NEWS

End of the School Year Celebration

RCS Haven's final concert of the year will take place on the 17th of June, where together we will celebrate the end of the academic year, enjoy the performances of our students, award certificates and gifts to the many competition winners.

The last day, at the same time, will become an opportunity to discuss future plans for the school.

Next year, the school will continue to prepare students to partake in the exams in Glasgow: ‘Russian for Life and Work’ (SQA), GCSE and GCE A-Level Russian.

Thanks to the initiative of parents of Adelphi Centre, a children's library will be open during the school's opening hours throughout the month of August.

Over the summer, our volunteers will check the stock and create a catalogue of available books.

If you have any books that you no longer need or your child has outgrown, the school would be happy to accept them as a gift to the library.

You may bring them to Adelphi-centre on Saturday 10th or 17th of June, or any day from 10.00 to 14.00 to 11 Duke Street.

Feel free to message us and we will help you deliver your books to our office.

A discussion with Roman Borisovich, ‘Boris’ in the documentary ‘From Russia with Cash’.
Channel4’s documentary ‘From Russia with Cash’ started a most successful political campaign.
The film’s shock-and-awe effect was largely due to the role of its anti-hero – the Russian health minister Boris – whose representation was based on the British public’s stereotypes rather than an accurate portrayal of a Russian government official. Roman Borisovich, the lead actor of the documentary (‘Boris’), a political campaigner and anti-corruption activist, will discuss the film and the perception of corruption in Russia and London.

By Maxim Gorky. Translated by Cathy Porter. A family secrets are ripped away as revolution erupts. The euphoria of the 1905 revolution is long over, and Russia is in chaos. As the government begins a brutal crackdown, a corrupt ex-police chief fears for his life after a failed assassination attempt by terrorists…   The Last Ones is a strikingly relevant and vivid portrayal of a family and a country in the grip of revolution, from one of the most important writers of the Twentieth Century.

The Vakhtangov Theatre’s Eugene Onegin : Screening & Discussion with Professor Maria Shevtsova
Eugene Onegin has often been referred to as an encyclopedia of 19th century Russian life. Rimas Tuminas’ reimagining unfolds in the memory and imagination of Pushkin’s characters. The images are split between past and present, between reality and imagination. The scale of the production constantly shifts from noisy celebrations to secluded contemplation, from crowd scenes to lonely recollections, all of which are drawn together from the past just like the fragments of Tatyana’s love letter, framed and hung on the wall, looming next to and above Onegin’s arm-chair.
