RCS Haven E-Bulletin - May 2017

Greetings, and welcome to our bulletin full of information on exciting Russian events.

RCS Haven is welcoming anyone who is interested in studying Russian language, literature and culture. We have English and Russian language lessons. There are a library, Art studio for children and Web-design Studio.
Also, the Centre provides consultations in law, finance and other aspects of work and business in Russia and Britain.


NEWS

Summer intensive course for Russian beginners

Dear friends,
 
We are happy to inform you that a new summer intensive course for Russian beginners starts from 8 May.
 
The lessons will be provided by our highly qualified teacher Dr Tatiana Orlova at our office, 11 Duke Street, Glasgow, G4 0UL.
 
The full course contains 10 lessons which will be every Monday from 5.30pm to 7pm.

BT Murrayfield in Edinburgh is hosting the Finals of the European Rugby Champions Cup on Saturday 13 May. 

Two Russian clubs, Enisei-STM and Krasny Yar will have qualified for the season’s Challenge Cup and will now play in the inaugural final of the Continental Shield at BT Murrayfield (kick-off 12 Noon, back pitch) on Saturday, 13 May.

Supporters wishing to come and watch this match will need to buy a ticket for the European Rugby Champions Cup Final (Saturday 13 May) which will also allow entry into the match between current Aviva Premiership Champions Saracens and Clermont Auvergne, of France (kick-off, 5pm).

Speak Russian? Thinking of a new career?
Police Scotland is currently recruiting both police officers and special constables into the organization.  Police Scotland is particularly keen to encourage applications from under-represented members from our communities. In their current recruitment campaign, they are looking to engage with potential applicants from all ethnic minorities and a variety of different backgrounds in an effort to be more representative of the diverse communities that they police.

RCS Haven is looking for Chess and Russian teachers for the Saturday school.
Also, we are looking for volunteers.

EDUCATION 

The School of Russian Centre in Scotland  Haven 
Classes for children are based on Russian teaching methods for primary school level native and non-native speakers.
In the current school year, lessons for all classes except the youngest take place between 11.00 and 2.00pm on Saturdays at Adelphi Centre, 12 Commercial Road, Glasgow G5 0PQ. [email protected]

Art lessons for children are undergoing in RCS Haven.
Under supervision of experienced teachers, a professional artist and a specialist in early development, children study the basics of drawing and painting, language development and drama. All children are welcome on Fridays from 5:30pm till 7:30pm.

Classes for those who want to study Russian and English language.
Russian lessons on Mondays at Beginners from 17.30 to 19.00; Advanced from 19.00 to 20.00, Intensive Beginners group on Wednesdays from 18.00. to 19.30 (11 Duke Street) and Saturdays at 11.00 (Adelphi Centre).
English lessons on Thursdays at 19.00.

 Exhibition dedicated to WWII in Russian Arctic Convoy

7 May, Saturday.  9:30-4:30 pm
The new Russian Arctic Convoy Exhibition Centre will be open to the public during the festival. This exhibition presents a collection of Arctic Convoy artefacts and memorabilia will be on display for all to see, including photographs, art work, uniforms, models, documents, scientific instruments, ships' crests, and all manner of material relating to the convoys.

6-7 May
The programme: The D-Day Darlings concert, The Vintage Beauty Parlour, The Highland Swing Band, Re-enactment Groups, Movie Night etc.
Look out for the T34 tank which will be in action on the shoreline at Poolewe once in the morning and twice in the afternoon. This will be followed by “Winston Churchill” giving speeches, after which he will be available for photographs with visitors. Mingle with the re-enactors and meet the Soviet “Red Army” soldiers, American troops and French Resistance.
Visit Aultbea for the “Battle of Britain” camp across from Village Hall. There will be British, American and German pilots. A full size replica Spitfire, RAF operations room (inside the village hall), a Field Hospital with nurses and the opportunity to see a Merlin engine working once in the morning and twice in the afternoon. A Spitfire from the Historic Aircraft Collection, Duxford will display over Loch Ewe each afternoon on both Saturday and Sunday.

Start from London to M1 route to the direction "North"
1:30 pm - stopover at services (M1 Gap Service Southbound, Northampton, NN6 7UZ)
The column route: M1 till 21A exit towards A46 to Newark. At route A616 will be organized a meeting point for participants from Brighton, York, Manchester, Scotland.
6 pm – concert dedicated to Victory Day. (NG22 0EJ, Wellow). 

 
7 May (Saturday) at 5 pm
Community event to celebrate 72 Anniversary of the WWII Victory in Europe and the end of the Great Patriotic War. Special guests: WWII Russian (Soviet) and British Veterans.

"Immortal Regiment" is a rally of remembrance: people carry photos of their family members who fought in WWII. All British friends whose ancestors fought in the War are welcome to join this regiment of peace and gratitude.
